Ahvaz, IRNA – Japan's Ambassador to Tehran Tamaki Tsukada has emphasized Japan’s readiness to cooperate with the Khuzestan Province on environmental issues, water management, and riverbed sands.

In a meeting with the acting mayor of Ahvaz Kourosh Hosseinizadeh on Tuesday, the ambassador described the southwestern province of Khuzestan as a strategically important region.

Tamaki acknowledged the environmental challenges and waste management issues faced by Ahvaz, suggesting that Japan’s experience in these areas could provide valuable insights for local authorities.

He noted that he would participate in a ceremony to donate medical equipment to the Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences and fire trucks to the city.

The envoy mentioned discussions with the governor of Khuzestan province regarding sister city relationships between Khuzestan and Japan, highlighting their historical connection along the Silk Road.

He also pointed out that carbon neutrality is a priority for Japanese firms, with ongoing discussions with Iran's ministries of foreign affairs and oil regarding this matter.

Furthermore, he expressed hope for fruitful negotiations between the US and Iran, indicating that Japanese companies would be inclined to invest in Iran once sanctions are lifted.
